What attracted me to holistic living is that I found myself practicing it without really knowing it by name. It’s only recently that I have come across the concept by name and I realized, that’s what am trying to achieve!
Naturally, without realizing it, I was trying to find a connection and balance between my physical, emotional and spiritual self.
Growing up, I enjoyed going from one book to the next, learning about society, health, food, spirituality, family, emotions…etc Yes, I truly do believe books are treasures waiting to be discovered. As I developed and understood myself and my environment better, I found myself inclined towards my internal health and wellness and the world at large.
I became more and more aware of my purpose in this world and I began to feel more complete.
Living this way is what felt right, what made me feel whole, and what bought me internal satisfaction.
Therefore focusing on what is good for me and my internal health allowed me to feel free from trying to impress people or keep up with what was fashionable because I knew that’s not important to building my better self.
I was finally able to prioritize balance and as a result, my decision-making skills improved!
I was able to ask myself the following questions before any big or small decision:
- why am I doing this
- is it beneficial for me
- what does my faith have to say about it
- does it need to be done now or can it wait
- is anything else more important
- is it feasible with my family situation
- what do my parents think/feel…
We would love it if someone else could make all the hard decisions for us…right?
But decision-making is a big part of our lives as adults and the more we can simplify that action the more we can relax and stress less about consequences.
And that’s only one of the benefits of holistic living, the list goes on….below are some benefits that I have enjoyed so far on my journey of holistic living.
